2002

 

Cheryl completes her Journymanship with Doug Weber.

Alibi Custom Rods is established in Santa Cruz, CA.

Cheryl becomes a member of the Custom Rodbuilders Guild (National Organization)

  

2004

 

Cheryl continues her education at the Custom Rodbuilders Guild's annual conclave in Nashville, TN.

Cheryl becomes a member of RFA, recreational fishing Alliance

2005

 

Cheryl continues her education at the Custom Rodbuilders Guilds Conclave in  Nashville, TN.

Cheryl takes the written and performance test to become a Certified member of the Custom rodbuilders Guild.

Cheryl passes the Guild Certification testing and becomes a "Certified" Custom Rodbuilders Guild member in June. 

Team "Alibi" competes in the BATC Tuna Tournament. Our crew was Dave Babineau, Cheryl Babineau and Bev Seltzer(Baja Bev) on board the "Alibi II". We placed 4th out of 24 boats. Our winning fish was a #30.80 Albacore.

 The "Alibi II", a 28' Grady White 282 Sailfish, is purchased through Central Valley Marine in Campbell, CA and we became members of the Grady White Owners Club.

 

  

2006

 

Cheryl continues her education by attending the Custom Rodbuilders Guild Conclave in Alanta, GA. This year David became a member and attended the Conclave with me.

Cheryl and David become  members of IGFA, International Game fishing Assoc.

Alibi Custom Rods Attended and donated a custom rod at the United Anglers of California dinner. Became a Business member of the UA.

Cheryl and David become Fullspeed Fishing Club members.

Team "Alibi" competes  in the Santa Cruz Sand Crab Classic Perch Tournament, fundraiser for the salmon/steelhead project. Our team consisted of Adonna Amoroso, Bev Seltzer, Dave and Cheryl Babineau.

Cheryl competes with Bev Seltzer in the Fenwick Tournament in Sitka Alaska.

Team "Alibi" competes in Grady White Salmon Derby, Santa Cruz, CA

Team "Alibi" competes in Fullspeed Bluewater Open Tuna Tournament, Santa Cruz, CA

Team "Alibi" traveled 1,300 nautical miles on the Alibi II to compete in Vag's Loreto Dorado Tournament, Loreto, MX. Team "Alibi" consisted of Dave, Cheryl and Kyle Babineau.

Cheryl is interviewed on local Radio station KSCO 1080 "Let's Talk Fishing" with Mike Baxter,  regarding our Sea of Cortez cruise.

Gift Certificates donated to RFA for Randy Fry Tournament.

 Cheryl  becomes a Staff Writer for Women Anglers Online Magazine

David lands a pending IGFA World Record Olive Rockfish

Beverly Seltzer lands the IGFA World Record 50 lb LC Yelloweye rockfish

2007

 

David is awarded the IGFA All Tackle World Record for the Olive Rockfish

Gift Certificates donated to the 2007 SandCrab Perch Derby benefiting the  Monterey Salmon/Trout Project.

New Custom Rod donated to the Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) for their fundraising dinner.

David & Cheryl co-write a article on their 2006 Baja Cruise aboard their 28'Grady White and it is published on the front page of Anchorline Magazine.

Cheryl writes an article for the International magazine Rodcrafters Journal and her photo is featured on the cover.

Cheryl becomes the secretary of the Custom Rod Builders International.

David and Cheryl attend the Vagabundos del Mar 2007 Crabfeed in Lodi, CA.

Team Alibi II fishes in the Grady White Owners Salmon Derby in Santa Cruz, CA. The team took 5th place with a 15.3# King Salmon that was landed by Kyle Babineau using a "Alibi Custom Rod".

David begins training to become a Certified NAUI SCUBA Instructor through UCSC.

David successfully completes his training at UCSC and recieves his  certification as a NAUI Scuba Instructor.

David teaches and certifies his first class of Open Water Scuba Divers.

Alibi Custom Rods make a donation to the NEOCATS catfish tournament.

Cheryl and David continue to develop their skills as custom rod builders by attending the Custom Rodbuilders Guild Conclave in St. Paul, MN.  At this years Conclave Cheryl assists in teaching the class in the art of marbling and David assists in the beginners rod building class. Cheryl officially takes her position on the board of directors as the Guilds secretary.

Alibi Custom Rods donates gift certificates to RFA for the 2007 Randy Fry Tournament.

 

2008

  • Cheryl and David attend the February Fullspeed Fishing club's dinner. Alibi Custom Rods donates a Gift Basket of fishing goodies to the club's raffle.
  • Mike Baxter of the "Let's talk Fishing" radio show, invites David and Cheryl to be his guests at his 2008 Santa Cruz Sand Crab Classic Perch tournament. The tournament benefits the Monterey Bay Salmon and Steelhead Project. Alibi Custom Rods donates a prize to the tournaments raffle.
  • Alibi Custom Rods donates a raffle prize to the Recreation Fishing Alliance for their dinner.
  • Alibi Custom Rods donates a Live Bait Rod to the Fishing for the Mission Tournament Raffle and it's sold for $2,700!
  • Cheryl recieves her certifacation as a NAUI Dive Master.
